Ian Sandy

Ian R. Sandy is based in Canada and recently retired from his role as principal advisor to the Technology Investigation (TI) team supporting the Royal Dutch Shell Group of companies (hereafter referred to as "Shell"). The TI department examines new information technology of possible use to Shell globally, whilst ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.

Ian is now taking some time off to rebuild old Japanese motorcycles and to fly radio-controlled planes, after completing more than 33 years in various Shell roles, including: Shell Canada Ltd. Western manufacturing computing services coordinator; Shell Chemicals Canada Ltd. manager of Information Technology; Americas infrastructure manager for the Shell Chemicals group of companies operating in the North, Central, and South Americas; and Shell Chemicals Europe BV as global infrastructure manager.

In addition to his role in Shell Chemicals, Ian also chaired a cross-business team managing Shell's global desktop services for all Shell businesses, sponsored the development and adoption of a Shell wireless and mobility strategy, and was a founding member of the cross-business governance team accountable for computing infrastructure operation and strategic direction, within all of Shell globally.

Ian is married to Donna, and they have two sons.
